The following is a paid announcement of intent to seek public office submitted by the candidate. Announcements may be sent to [email protected]. The deadline for all submissions is June 27 at 5 p.m.
Hello, my name is Trish Tucker, and I am announcing my intent to run as your Republican candidate for County Commissioner District 4.
I was raised on Little Santa Fe Lake by my parents Roger and Dorothy Hardy Jones. We moved to Starke when I was 13 years old. I graduated from Bradford High School in 1992, and I have been married to my husband Chris Tucker for 30 years. We raised our daughters in Lake Hampton Oaks subdivision, and they now have families of their own and they have blessed us with three grandsons ages 7, 3 and 2. We are currently building our home in Fox Hollow subdivision.
I have been employed with the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office since 2007 in the finance office. My current position for the last few years is as the Finance Administrator. I am an active member of the Woman’s Club of Starke, Communities in Schools of Bradford County and Altrusa Club of Starke.
My message to the voters in District 4 is simple: We must stop spending more than we’re bringing in. My plan is to do the same as I’ve done as the finance administrator for the Sheriff’s Office. We have not spent more than we’ve been given, and most years we return money back to the county.
The board has dipped into our “rainy day fund” and in a short number of years that will be depleted.
Fuel prices, food prices and inflation are at an all-time high. The last thing the working-class people of Bradford County need is having to pay more out of their pockets.
There are a lot of Republicans in this race. Some have recently changed to this party for political expediency as this county has gone from mainly Democratic to now more registered Republicans. I have been a lifelong Republican but I’m a conservative first.
I believe we need to look for ways to expand the tax base while keeping taxes low. I will not support creating a new or additional government body without having a plan or existing revenue to fund it.
I would be so grateful to serve this district and this county and be humbled and honored for your vote.
