Bradford County Fire Rescue Chief Ben Carter said his agency responded to an electrical fire at a Lawtey liquor store on Tuesday, March 25. However, the personnel from two stations were recalled before they reached the scene.

Carter said smoke from a faulty light fixture damaged the interior of the building on Madison Street. Lawtey firefighters responded to the alarm, mitigated the threat, and ventilated the building.

The chief added that there were no active flames during the incident and that units from Sampson City and Starke were initially paged to respond but were recalled to their stations before arriving in Lawtey.
