UCHS golfers tie Santa Fe to open season

Union County High School hosted Santa Fe at Lake City’s Quail Heights Country Club to open the golf season on Aug. 22, with each team finishing with a score of 216.

Caleb Zapp led the Tigers with a third-place score of 45. Zapp, who shot par on two holes, was one stroke away from tying for second and eight strokes away from tying for first.

Caleb Ripplinger, who shot par on one hole, and Tucker Williams finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with scores of 52 and 56. Grant Dicks had a seventh-place score of 63, while Eli Elixson and Colby Dukes tied for eighth, each shooting a 69.

The Tigers host Bell at Quail Heights today, Aug. 23, at 3:30 p.m. before traveling  tol play Keystone Heights and Oak Hall on Thursday, Aug. 25, at Gainesville’s Hawkstone Country Club at 4 p.m. Union then hosts Branford and Chiefland at Quail Heights on Monday, Aug. 29, at 3:30 p.m.

Union plays Bradford at Quail Heights on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 3:30 p.m.
