Union County High School’s Jaira Highland competed in the Region 2-1A girls weightlifting finals on Jan. 29 at Daytona Beach’s Father Lopez Catholic High School, finishing with an overall total of 225 pounds.
Highland placed 12th in the 199 class. She had a best bench press of 110 and a best clean and jerk of 115.
She earned the right to compete by placing fifth at the Jan. 18 District 5 finals.
