Visiting Bell scored just one earned run, but defeated the Union County High School softball team 7-4 on March 11.

The Bulldogs took advantage of three walks, four errors, a hit batter and a passed ball in scoring runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings.

Union (3-5) fell behind 3-0, but cut its deficit to one, with Shyla Crowe driving in a run on a sacrifice fly and Emma Handley hitting an RBI single.

Crowe and Handley went 2 for 2 and 3 for 4, respectively.

The Tigers trailed 6-2 before making it a two-run game in the fifth, with Brooke Burgess driving in a run on a sacrifice bunt and an error allowing another run to score.

Union entered the game off two losses the previous week.

On March 5, the Tigers held a 5-4 lead in the sixth before host Buchholz scored six runs in defeating Union 10-5.

Campbell Webb drove in a run on a sacrifice fly as part of a three-run third inning to put the Tigers ahead 3-1.

The Bobcats’ big sixth inning included six Union errors.

Union had only four hits, with one being a double by Jaydin Alvarez.

The Tigers hosted Chiefland on March 7, losing 12-2.

Union fell behind 5-0 in the first two innings, but a two-run single in the fourth by the Tigers’ Skyler Moates made it a three-run game.

The score remained 5-2 until the Indians scored seven in the seventh inning.

Moates’ fourth-inning single was one of four Union hits. Two were doubles by Handley and Brooke Hunt.

Union, which has lost four in a row, travels to play Crescent City on Tuesday, March 12, at 7 p.m.
