UCHS volleyball team falls 3-1 to Dixie County

Union County High School’s volleyball team came close to forcing a tiebreaker set, but instead lost 3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 12-25, 31-29) to host Dixie County on Sept. 23.

Layla Barber and Indi Knox had 20 and 10 kills, respectively, while Jailyn Simmons added nine. Rylie Parrish had seven kills.

Jurney Crim and Jordan Hendricks led the team in digs with 22 each. Union also got 12 from Abby Williams, 11 from Barber, nine from Knox, eight from Bella Johns and seven each from Simmons and Kamryn Southerland.

Hendricks and Southerland recorded 17 and 10 assists, respectively, while Simmons led the team in blocks with six. Parrish added three blocks.

Knox also added seven service aces to her totals.

The Tigers (7-8) host The Rock on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 6:30 p.m. and will travel to play Branford on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 6:30 p.m. Union hosts Bell on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. and Dixie County on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m.

Union’s junior varsity team plays one hour prior to each match.
