Union Commissioner “extraordinarily frustrated” with auditors

The county’s audit is due to the state by June 30. The Jones Moore and Company CPAs presented it to the board on July 20, and Commissioner Donna Jackson said her exit conference with the auditors came right at the deadline. “It’s July 20th, and I had an exit conference with representatives of James Moore … like on the 29th through the 30th, like literally the day before it was due to the state,” she complained.

“I have asked time and time again for this audit to be presented to us before it’s given to the state,” Jackson continued, noting it was at least the third year she had raised the issue. She said the board’s only recourse when the timeline slips is to hold the firm accountable: “Ultimately the only thing we can do is hold you responsible, because we pay you a lot of money to do a job.”
