Union Commissioner supports property tax cuts

“I for one am in favor of it and will be voting for it,” Commissioner Mac Johns said of a proposed amendment to increase property tax exemptions, calling consolidation talk “a scare tactic” and arguing county government has grown far beyond what earlier generations funded.

He said no one’s paid-off homestead should be lost over unpaid property taxes.
