LAKE BUTLER — The morning was cold and both people and the animals were feeling it, but that did not stop some young Union County 4-H members from getting in some practice in preparation for the upcoming Union County Livestock Association’s goat show on March 18 at 9 a.m.

About 35 young people and their animals took advantage of the opportunity to gain show ring experience and some instruction on their showing technique.  All of the young people were composed and focused and the goats were goats. A few decided they did not want to go or stand where they were told – and one actually got loose and “made a break for it,” but over all things ran smoothly.

It’s a sure bet that all the youngsters are looking forward to the big show – which will be the first time for many of them.  All indications are that they will be ready to do their best to show off the animals they have worked to raise.

Cuyler Collins and his goat take time to take a break before entering the show ring in their class.
Ava Jefferson wait for the judge while her goat behaves as it should.
Tinley DeNunzio, her goat and her sister wait for Tinley’s turn in the showring. The goat seems to take a chance for a little head rub while waiting.

Kalyn Reynolds has her goat set and ready for the judge to assess.
