The team of Jesse Williams and L.J. Forsgren caught a 3.87-pound bass, and Brandon Griffis reeled in a 3.98-pound catfish to take honors in the Tommy Spires Memorial Bass Fishing Tournament on Butler Lake, July 5.

Nineteen boats launched from Lakeside Park at dawn. Participants were allowed to weigh one fish to determine the rankings.

Others placing in the tournament with bass catches were Ginger Thompson, 2.21 pounds, Tyler Griffis, 1.22 pounds, Buddy Perry, 1.17 pounds, Dallen Cox, 0.93 pounds, and Kevin Weeks, 0.92 pounds.

Brandon Griffis’s catfish was the only entry in the trash fish category.
