STARKE—Trenton Scott Foreman, 23, of Hampton was sentenced to 30 months in prison after admitting to stealing a car from a woman who fed him grits and offered him a ride to Sampson City.

According to a warrant affidavit, the victim told Bradford deputies that Foreman arrived on a bicycle at her house in the area of the Starke Golf and Country Club on Dec. 23 and wished her Merry Christmas.

The victim added that after she fed Foreman grits on her porch, he asked for a ride to Sampson City.

“(The victim) told Foreman she would give him a ride but needed to put warmer clothes on,” reporting officer Lekiesha Lewis wrote. “Foreman was in the vehicle waiting for (the victim). When (the victim) went outside to take Foreman to Sampson City, she noticed the vehicle was gone.”

The victim added that she was concerned because Foreman was consuming a beer when he arrived at her house on the bicycle.

Deputies later arrested the defendant at the Bradford Motel and Campground on Temple Avenue.
