With St. Patrick’s Day occurring in March, the Woman’s Club of Starke celebrated Irish culture at its monthly meeting, serving up a traditional menu of shepherd’s pie, Irish flag salad, soda bread and Irish apple cake. Club members enjoyed a presentation by Amy Polk, owner of Hometown Grounds Coffee Company, followed by the club making a $1,000 donation to A Place of Grace Inc., a local nonprofit that helps feed the disadvantaged. The Porchiazzo family provides a meal to anyone in need every day at 1 p.m. at the Rags to Riches thrift store. The community has come together to help provide these meals, with local churches and individuals helping prepare and serve the food.
