Worthington Springs holds annual Christmas in the Park

Nathan, Logan, Colton and Lilian Martin came as a group to fill the laps of both Santa and Mrs. Claus at Worthington Springs’ Christmas in the Park.

Special to the Times

The Town of Worthington Springs held its annual Christmas in the Park event, with fun activities and about 25 vendors selling Christmas items and potential presents.

The event is always a large one and this year was no exception, with about 400 people attending, mostly in family groups.  Santa and Mrs. Claus were on hand so the youngsters could sit on his lap and tell him their Christmas secrets and dreams.  The line to see Santa was amazingly long – possibly indicative of the less frequent opportunities to see him this year due to COVID and the new variant.

Amy and Jayda Hendrieth, along with Presli McMinn and Kristi Morton were on hand at the park gates to welcome visitors and to hand out tickets for several drawing held throughout the evening.  The mood was buoyant and the smiles were wide as many local residents got to socialize with friends and neighbors at one of the area’s most popular Christmas event.

Princess Mackenzie Morton and Elf Brooke Dampier were on hand to welcome everyone to Christmas in the Park 2021.
Dainyell Thaxton and Tyler Minx spent some time with Mickey Mouse and the Grinch while visiting the event.
Jameson, Rowan and Madeline Myers got to sit on Santa’s lap, but Rowan and Madeline seemed a little distracted by something off to their left – Rudolf, perhaps?
Kamille Crews looks a little wistful as she takes in all the fun activites and interesting things around her at Worthington Springs Christmas in the Park.
The line to see Santa and Mrs. Claus was looong, and this was just in the first 15 minutes that he was on hand.
