Lester Crawford

Lester Crawford

Lester Crawford passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, at Haven Hospice in Gainesville after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 2, 1937, in Plant City and lived a life marked by steady work, devotion to family, and unwavering faith. Lester began his working life at the age of 17, working in the floor-covering business, eventually owning his own company. In 1973, after selling his business, he moved his family to Union County, where he tried his hand at farming. He grew corn, soybeans, wheat and watermelons. He later purchased and ran a sawmill and also took up truck driving. He retired from trucking at the age of 70. Lester worked in many jobs and made countless friends along the way. He enjoyed his work. He was quiet and reserved, with a dry sense of humor that those who knew him appreciated well. He enjoyed working, and when time allowed, he liked fishing and a little hunting. He also loved his church and found special meaning in teaching Sunday school, sharing his faith through service and example. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harmon and Artie Crawford; his son, Darryl Crawford; and his great-grandson, Hartley Kirkman.

Above all, Lester was a family man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Ileen Crawford. He is also survived by his children, LaWayne (Kay) Crawford, Donna (Mike) Metzler, David (Nina) Crawford, Nina and Dana Crawford; and daughter-in-law, Darlene Crawford. His family circle also includes grandchildren, Carla (Danny) Arreola, LeLand Crawford, Zeb (Georgie) Howard, Kasey (Phillip) Heilman, Shane (Amanda) Metzler, James (Brianna) Carter, Victoria (Eric) Kirkman, Cody (Ashleigh) King, Kyle (Danyelle) King, Cindy (Shawn) Andrews, Carolina Crawford, and Abigail Crawford; along with 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Visitation was held on Friday, Oct. 30, at Providence Village Baptist Church. The funeral service followed at the church, with Pastor Dax Summerhill officiating. Lester was laid to rest immediately following the service at Douglass Cemetery. Lester Crawford will be remembered with love and gratitude for his strong work ethic, his faithful heart, his steady presence, and the enduring example he set for his family.

Judith Woodall

Judith Woodall

Judith Marie Daniel Woodall, lovingly known as Judy, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026. Judy was born Nov. 1, 1946, in DeFuniak Springs, to the late Johnny Sanford and Adell Whitten Daniel. She attended and graduated from Ponce de Leon High School in 1964. In 1965, she married the love of her life, Ronnie Woodall, beginning a lifelong journey together that spanned 61 years. After spending six years as a military wife, Judy and Ronnie eventually settled in Lake Butler, following Ronnie’s job assignment. Judy began her working career at River’s Hardware, where she worked for one year before joining Farmers’ and Dealers Bank. There, she served as a computer operator and proof machine operator for seven years. When Ronnie received a promotion, the couple moved to Tallahassee before eventually returning to Lake Butler, where Judy went to work at Lake Butler Farm Center. She later began a career with the Florida Department of Corrections at Reception Medical Center. Through her dedication and hard work, she advanced to the position of Accountant III, retiring in 1999. After many years of faithful service, vision difficulties ultimately led to her retirement when the business office relocated to Gainesville. Above all, Judy cherished her family and her faith. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church in Worthington Springs, where she was also a member of the Honors Sunday School Class. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she now rests in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Sanford and Adell Whitten Daniel; her guardians, Leroy and Ella Mae Daniel; her brother, Donnie Sanford Daniel; her sister-in-law, Theresa Woodall Shoup; her beloved son, Scottie Lynn Woodall; and her grandson, Zachery Scott Woodall.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her devoted husband of 61 years, Ronnie Woodall of Lake Butler; her sisters, Betty (Gary) Gregory  and Alice Casey; her children, Ronnie (Teresa) Woodall Jr., Cathy (Daryl) Nazworth; her daughter-in-law, Chrystal Woodall, widow of her beloved son, Scottie Lynn Woodall; and her eight grandchildren: Daniel (Brianna) Nazworth, Savannah Woodall (Shaye) Baker,, Lauren Woodall (fiancé West Steiner), Rachel (James) Cavin, Jonathan (Raelyn) Nazworth, Ciara Woodall (Dylan) Lane, Tristen Woodall, and Alexander Hankins. She is also survived by her five great-grandchildren, Aubrey Nazworth, Jackson Nazworth, Emma Jae Cavin, Calleigh Mae Cavin, and Macie James Cavin, with another great-grandson on the way. Judy’s life was a testament to love, faith, hard work, and devotion to family. Though she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, the memories she leaves behind will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who went before her, and home with her Lord and Savior.

A funeral service was held on Sunday, Nov. 1, at Sardis Baptist Church with Pastor Paul O’Steen officiating. The family received friends for a visitation prior to the service. Judy was laid to rest immediately following the service at Dekle Cemetery.
