It was a near miss for a championship and a playoff berth for the Bradford High School girls basketball team, which lost 43-40 to top-see Fort White in the District 6-1A title game on Feb. 4 in Fort White.

Fort White and District 5 champion Madison County earned the two automatic playoff berths in Region 3. Lafayette and Hilliard, who were the two highest-ranked teams (excluding Fort White and Madison County) earned the region’s two at-large berths.

Bradford, which was the second seed in the District 6 tournament, ended up being ranked one spot shy of qualifying for the playoffs. The Tornadoes (9-11) finished ranked fifth in Region 3, with Hilliard, as the fourth-ranked team, taking the last at-large spot.
