Recent arrests in Bradford, Union and Clay

The following individuals were arrested recently by local law enforcement officers in Bradford, Union or Clay (Keystone Heights-area) counties. All defendants are considered innocent until convicted in a court or until pleading guilty or no contest. Information in this report is from law enforcement agencies and court documents, which are public records.

Bradford

Allen

Fired gun during fight

Blake Devontay Allen, 19, of Lawtey was arrested by Lawtey police on Feb. 19 for firing a weapon, aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon, destroying evidence, making a false report and child cruelty.

According to an arrest report, the defendant and victim got into a fight, and during the scuffle, Allen fired a gun into a residence.

Moments later, Allen pointed the gun in the direction of the victim and a bystander shouted, “Don’t do it. He is not worth it.”

“Then Blake pointed the weapon into the air and fired several rounds,” wrote Lawtey police officer Michael W. Starling in an arrest report.

Starling added that later, when he interviewed the defendant at his home, he asked Allen where the gun was located and Allen responded, “at the Dollar General dumpster in Lawtey.” However, the officer later found the weapon in a shed, hidden under a mattress.

Francisco Javier Boneu Munoz, 40, of Largo was arrested on Feb. 21 for driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Stephen Jay Cowart, 67, of Starke was arrested by Starke police on Feb. 23 for a probation violation.

Samantha Ray Donahue, 26, of Jasper was arrested by Bradford deputies on Feb. 22 for possession of drugs, possession of cocaine and possession of drug equipment.

Jessica Charlene Ellis, 26, of Starke was arrested by Bradford deputies on Feb. 20 for failure to appear.

Michael T. Holmes, 40, of Lawtey was arrested on Feb. 22 for battery.

Marty Benton Lee, 52, of Starke was arrested by Bradford deputies on Feb. 21 for battery.

Danielle McKinzie, 34, of St. Marys, Georgia was arrested on Feb. 24 for DUI and resisting an officer.

Miller

Caregiver confiscates dead woman’s property

Calvin Eugene Miller, 66, of Palatka was arrested on Feb. 24 for vehicle theft.

According to a warrant affidavit, the defendant was caring for a woman who died in July 2022.

After the woman’s death, Miller took possession of the decedent’s valuables, including a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche.

The defendant refused family members’ requests to return the items and the vehicle, even after ownership of the car was transferred to one of the decedent’s children.

Richard Clayton Shaffer, 56, of Starke was arrested by Starke police on Feb. 21 for a probation violation.

Michael Woodard Sumner, 48, of Starke was arrested on Feb. 25 for DUI.

Wright

Hit Hampton bicyclist and fled scene, then returned

Kaylin Leigh Wright, 21, of Keystone Heights was arrested by Bradford deputies on Feb. 22 for hit and run.

In an arrest report, Bradford Deputy Brian Haddock noted that the victim was struck as he was peddling near the Hampton Sunoco.

“Upon my arrival, I observed the victim…who is autistic and can’t speak, lying on the ground beside his damaged bicycle,” wrote Haddock. “After acquiring a vehicle description from the witness…who observed the suspect’s vehicle strike the victim and flee the area hastily, I endeavored to locate the vehicle in the area, with negative results.”

The deputy added that after returning to the Sunoco, the witness pointed out a passing car that he said was the vehicle that had earlier struck the cyclist.

“Deputy Malley, who was assisting on this call, conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the suspect,” wrote Haddock. “Per Deputy Malley, the suspect spontaneously conceded to striking the victim on his bicycle and fleeing the scene. Moreover, Deputy Malley advised that there

was damage to the front of the suspect’s vehicle.”

The victim was transported to HCA Starke Emergency due to possible injuries.

Union

Darius Terrell Corbitt, 31, of Lake Butler was arrested by Union deputies on Feb. 21 for battery, robbery and obstructing justice.

Alissa Serenity Griffis, 30, of Live Oak was arrested by Union deputies on Feb. 21 for failure to appear.

Goes after cell phones, stopped by taser

Paul Eliott Huffer, 33, of Lake Butler was arrested by Union deputies on Feb. 26 for battery, child cruelty, resisting an officer, possession of drugs and obstructing justice.

According to an arrest report, the victim told deputies she and the defendant got into an argument that turned physical.

“(The victim) stated that Paul grabbed her by her right forearm and snatched her towards him in an attempt to get her cell phone because (the victim) stated that she was going to call 911,” wrote Deputy Lowell A. Green in the report.

A child in the residence tried to intervene and the victim told the minor to call 911.

“But Paul grabbed (the second victim), snatching the phone out of her hand, causing (her) to fall to the floor,” wrote Green.

The deputy added that Huffer then grabbed the first victim by the arm and slammed her to the ground to gain possession of her cell phone from her pants pocket.

However, the victim had a second phone hidden in the residence which she used to call 911.

Deputies located the defendant fleeing toward Providence.

Green wrote that as Huffer was running away from him in a ditch, the deputy stopped the defendant with a taser.

Donald Lee Johnson, 51, of Lake Butler was arrested by Union deputies on Feb. 28 for failure to appear and a probation violation.

Larry Wayne Langford Jr. 54, of Lake Butler was arrested by Union deputies on Feb. 25 for trespassing and disorderly intoxication.

Matthew Richard Lee, 25, of Lake Butler was arrested by Union deputies on Feb. 24 for a probation violation.

Julia Faith Wilkes, 41, of Lake Butler was arrested by Union deputies on Feb. 25 for an out-of-county warrant.

Clay

Landlord damaged tenant’s car

Kenneth Ivan McAllister, 63, of Keystone Heights was arrested by Clay deputies on Feb. 18 for vandalism.

According to court papers, the victim told Clay deputies that while shopping at Hitchcock’s grocery store on Feb. 1, she saw her former landlord in the parking lot.

“The victim states the defendant has been harassing her since before she moved out at the end of December 2022 due to a dispute over rent payments and the two looked directly at each other as they passed in the parking lot,” wrote Detective Philip F. Crider in a warrant affidavit. “The victim stated she arrived at the store at approximately (1:45 p.m.) and when she came out of the store about an hour later, there were several deep scratches along the driver’s side of her vehicle.”

Crider added that he obtained video from the store which showed the defendant’s truck drive to a nearby AutoZone parking lot until the victim and a friend entered the grocery store.

“At (1:51 p.m.) the defendant pulls into a parking space in front of the victim’s vehicle and the defendant exits the vehicle,” wrote Crider. “The defendant…walks the length of the driver’s side of the victim’s vehicle and is seen for several seconds at the back fender of the driver’s side of the vehicle, where a large amount of damage was later discovered.”

The detective added that additional video footage revealed that no one else approached the victim’s vehicle between the time she left the car until she returned.

John Armand Pennigsdorf, 22, of Keystone Heights was arrested by Clay deputies on Feb. 19 for battery.

Kaylin Lee Wright, 21, of Keystone Heights was arrested by Clay deputies on Feb. 21 for possession of drug equipment, possession of not more than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of MDMA.
