Ryder Thomas placed 14th out of 283 runners, helping the Keystone Heights High School boys cross-country team to an eighth-place team finish in the Open Boys division at the Oct. 14 New World Fall Spectacular, which was held at New World Golf in Jacksonville.
The Open Boys division consisted of 29 teams. Keystone placed behind Oakleaf, Matanzas, Deltona, St. Joseph, Stanton, Seabreeze and North Marion.
Thomas posted a time of 17:50 to lead the Indians, who also got a 25th-place time of 18:15 from Tyler Griffin. Also earning points were Anthony Peak with a 48th-place time of 19:04, Bryce Huntley with an 82nd-place time of 19:54 and Hunter Sheppard with a 98th-place time of 20:23.
Kipton Spence also placed in the top of the half of the field with a 134th-place time of 21:15.
Also running for Keystone were Jason Parales 21:23, Mason Gray 22:48, Hunter Gray 23:11, Eli Rabe 26:11 and Oliver Miller 26:12.
Olivia Griffin placed 85th out of 252 in the Elite Girls race, finishing with a time of 21:02.
The Indians had nine compete in the Open Girls race, led by Melody Tyre, who placed 71st out of 92 with a time of 25:32.
Alonah Neeld placed in the top half of the field with an 88th-place time of 26:23.
Keystone placed 14th out of 17th teams, with the following runners also earning points: Cali Chamberlain with a 108th-place time of 26:58, Brook Graudons with a 124th-place time of 28:15 and Ella Hutchins with a 131st-place time of 28:45.
Also running were Kirsten Lavin 29:33, Madilyn Miller 29:36, Schiley Starling 31:29 and Clara Beth Robinson 31:52.
