Union County High School’s volleyball team will play for the District 6-1A championship after defeating third seed Bell 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-23) in an Oct. 17 semifinal match.
The second seed Tigers (11-11) will play top seed Branford (21-4) on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. at Branford.
Stats weren’t available by deadline.
Union entered the tournament off a 3-1 (25-22, 12-25, 26-24, 25-23) win over visiting Suwannee to close out the regular season on Oct. 12.
Jailyn Simmons and Layla Barber had 19 and 12 kills, respectively, while Rylie Parrish had eight. Indi Knox added seven kills.
Simmons also had eight blocks, with Parrish adding four.
Kamryn Southerland and Jordan Hendricks had 20 and 18 assists, respectively. Southerland also had 15 digs, while Hendricks had six.
Jurney Crim led the team in digs with 27. Barber had 15, while Bella Johns had seven
