Tornadoes keep winning in boys, girls hoops

Bradford High School’s basketball teams continued their winning ways on Dec. 16, with the boys team defeating host Belleview 70-58 and the girls team defeating host Fort White 49-39.

The boys team, which hasn’t lost since its season opener, improved to 4-1, getting double-digit points from the following: Jordan Cason with 16, Jy’Quez Cason with 14, Maliki Cobarris with 13 and K.J. Taylor with 10.

Bradford also got eight points from Jonathan Andrews, seven points from Steven Carter and two points from Breion Johnson.

Jordan Cason and Taylor led the Tornadoes in rebounds with seven and six, respectively.

Cobarris and Jordan Cason each had four steals, with Cobarris leading the team in assists with five. Cason added four assists.

The Bradford girls team avenged its season-opening 52-31 loss to Fort White and has now won six straight in improving to 7-2.

Ar’Nayshia Griffin led the team in scoring with 24 points, rebounds with 15, assists with three and steals with six.

Nichelle Brown scored 16 points and had eight rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Cherish Bing and Ky’lee Johnson chipped in five and four points, respectively, with Bing also adding 13 rebounds. Johnson had seven rebounds.

The boys team was scheduled to play at P.K. Yonge on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 7:30 p.m. and will travel to Lake Butler to play Union County on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Bradford then travels to play Middleburg on Friday, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m.

Bradford’s girls team was scheduled to host Hawthorne on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. The Tornadoes will then be off until hosting Williston on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m.
