The Woman’s Club of Starke’s performance of “Drinking Habits” raised $5,800 to support its community initiatives.
A group of community players — Nancy Alvarez, Sheila Barnes, Tami Curtis, Buz Dyal, Jordan Dyal, Timmy Faulkner, Marty Rhoden, Johanna Torrence and Cheri Wall — performed the play, which was written by Tom Smith. The comedy/love story was presented to a sold-out crowd all three nights (Jan. 17-19) of its performance.
Money raised will be distributed to organizations such as Bradford Community for Schools, The Chesed House and Villages of Hope. The club will also help feed the hungry, partner with the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office and support Bradford schools’ band programs.
The club is looking to expand its outreach to other civic projects in the community, such as raising awareness of human trafficking, bringing love to nursing homes by providing socks and cards for holidays such as Valentine’s Day.
