For the fourth year in a row, the Bradford County Public Library hosted its much-anticipated Galentines Luncheon on Friday, February 14th. The event, which took place at Tony’s Italian Restaurant, has become a staple for women in the community looking to celebrate Valentine’s Day in a warm, friendly, and fun atmosphere.
Spearheaded by Kathy Paddock, the library’s coordinator of activities, the luncheon offered an opportunity for women to come together, enjoy delicious food, and build lasting friendships.
The Galentines Luncheon originated as a way to provide women with an alternative way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. While the holiday is traditionally associated with romance, the luncheon offered a fresh take on the holiday, focusing on friendship and camaraderie instead.
Around 20 attendees filled the eatery. The event featured a specially curated Valentine’s menu designed to delight. Specials included chicken carbonara served with heart-shaped pasta, lobster ravioli served with shrimp, prime rib served with garlic mashed potatoes, and seafood pescatore served with a four-ounce lobster tail, mussels, clams, and shrimp.
From starters to dessert, attendees enjoyed meals that were as festive as they were flavorful.
Paddock, who has been the driving force behind the Galentines Luncheon since its inception, is known for her ability to bring people together. As the library’s coordinator of activities, she is passionate about creating spaces where people can socialize, connect, and make new friends.
For many attendees, the luncheon has become an annual tradition.
The Galentines Luncheon is open to women of all ages, and each year, the event draws a diverse crowd. For some attendees, it’s an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, while for others, it’s a chance to meet new people. Whether they’re there for the food, the conversation, or simply to celebrate the day with others, all attendees leave with full hearts and full stomachs.
The spirit of the event goes beyond just Valentine’s Day. It’s about fostering connections and building a strong sense of community among women.
With its warm and welcoming atmosphere, the Galentines Luncheon has quickly become a cherished event for many in the community. Whether you’re a regular or attending for the first time, it’s a wonderful way to spend Valentine’s Day celebrating friendship and connection.
“I look forward to the Galentines Luncheon every year,” said one attendee from last year’s event. “It’s such a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day without the pressure of traditional expectations. Plus, I’ve made some great friends over the years.”
The Galentines Luncheon is just one of many events hosted by the library throughout the year that aims to bring women in the community together. Another popular event is their Friendsgiving Luncheon, held annually at the Downtown Grill on Thanksgiving. The Friendsgiving event offers a similar opportunity for women to gather and share a meal in the spirit of friendship and community.
These events provide a space for women to relax and enjoy each other’s company, whether they’re new to town or have been part of the community for years. It’s all about creating opportunities for fun and friendship.
