Teresa McCollough

Teresa McCollough

Teresa Cantrell McCollough, 54, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 21, 2025, at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born Sept. 28, 1970, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, where her roots took hold, and her spirit blossomed in the heart of Mississippi. In 2015, she made the move to Florida, embracing new horizons alongside her husband, Ty McCollough, with whom she shared 20 beautiful years of life. Throughout her life, she brought a sense of happiness and wit that was palpable to all who knew her. Her subtle humor lit up the lives of many, making ordinary moments feel extraordinary. She worked in accounts payable for Pritchett Trucking from 2016 until illness forced her to retire at the beginning of the year, demonstrating her unwavering dedication and commitment to her responsibilities. Though she faced her illness with a strength that inspired those around her, it was her role as “Mimi” to her cherished grandchildren that brought her the most pride and joy. She adored Graysen, Kaiden, Colson, Annalise and Augustus and looked forward to the arrival of her newest grandchild, Sinclair. They were her heartbeats, the very essence of her being, and the source of countless treasured memories. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olan Cantrell and Shelby Jean Littlejohn.

Her love extended beyond her grandchildren. She is survived by her adoring children, Chesley, Sterling, Kayla, and Kyle; and siblings, Blue Cantrell, Trish Alridge, and Tony White.

In honoring her spirit, a Celebration of Life will take place at her home in Starke on Saturday, June 28, beginning at noon. Here, friends and family will gather to share stories and reminisce about a remarkable woman whose life, though far too brief, was woven with laughter, love, and cherished moments.

Bill Rhoden Sr.

Bill Rhoden Sr.

In Loving Memory of William Kelly “Bill” Rhoden Sr., Aug. 29, 1961–June 9, 2025. It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William Kelly (Bill) Rhoden Sr., who went home to be with our Lord on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the age of 63. He was a gentle soul who loved to laugh, even if it was at himself, and he shared his humor with everyone around him. He had a warm heart, a deep love for his family and laughter was his love language. He could turn almost anything into a reason to laugh. He had a unique ability to bring joy to the room in that way. Whether it was a clever joke or a memorable story from his colorful past, he had a knack for turning even the most mundane moments into cherished memories by making a joke. Born in Starke and raised in Hampton, his life came full circle as he grew up, married Rose, the love of his life, and moved away from his hometown up to Tennessee to start his family. He eventually came back home to nearby Keystone Heights to live out the rest of his life. He worked over 30 years as a carpenter. He loved football (Go Gators), country music (Go Merle Haggard), quiet evenings on the back porch, diving into a good dish of shrimp with lemon and “talking” about fishing. Most of all, he loved seeing his family and, any time they showed up at his home, to spend time with him, it was pure joy. He was a master storyteller (some true, some not) and lived his life on his own terms and never let anyone impede his choices. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Peggy Rhoden; sister, Cindy Willoughby; and brother, Mark Rhoden

He is survived by his children, William Kelly “Will” (Erica) Rhoden Jr. of Dade City, Bridgett (Justin) McCarthy of Warsaw, Indiana, Christopher Rhoden of Dade City and Sandy (Josh) Canady  of Brooksville; grandchildren, Kaliegh, Kyndal, Peyton, James (Jr), Josiah, Seth and Jordynn; his companion of 10 years, Lorrie Croussore of Keystone Heights; brother, Wayne Rhoden of Keystone Heights; sister, Dianne (Thomas) Davis-Nogueira of Troutman, North Carolina; many beloved nieces and nephews and neighbors who became extended family to him.  and his son, Jimmy Rhoden.

A private memorial of his life will be held at a later date, after which he will be laid to rest in the family lot at Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Theressa. Cheers to you, Bill, for living life your way.

Frances Waters

Frances Waters

Frances Marie Mathis Waters enriched our lives with her presence from Nov. 3, 1944, born in Taylor County, until she joined her soulmate, Earl, in heaven on Monday, June 23, 2025, while surrounded by loved ones in her home located in Lake Butler. She met Earl at a dance in White Springs, who then went on to share a deep and everlasting love that served as an inspiration to everyone around them. Their marriage of 48.5 years was a testament to the power of devotion and partnership they gave to one another. Earl was the center of her entire world and not a day went by when she didn’t share stories of their time together or how much she missed him. She dedicated a significant portion of her life to the Department of Corrections as a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse, where she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to care and compassion for anyone fortunate to cross her path. As a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, her faith was a guiding force in her life. She found joy in supporting her church, sharing her testimony, and its fellow church members. She frequently hosted missionaries, providing them with meals and a welcoming home, embodying the spirit of service and outreach. She was a woman with a multitude of interests which showed just how much she appreciated the world around her. She found pleasure in reading a good book or delighting in the challenge of a crossword puzzle. She shared a great fondness for preserving the bounties of her garden through canning. Her evenings were often spent indulging in her love for old western movies or TV shows. But perhaps her greatest impact was felt within the walls of her own home. Her home was always a hub of activity, filled with the joyful sounds of her many grandchildren. Her house was a haven for everyone, a place where all were welcome and treated like family. Whether it was a warm meal, a listening ear, or a place to stay, her door was always open and her heart ready to embrace those in need. She will be remembered as the “granny to everyone” whose home was filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. She now joins her beloved husband of 48.5 years, Earl Waters, who preceded her in death; alongside her parents, Ruben and Thelma Lee Mathis; siblings, Robert Davis, Barney Mathis, Willie Mathis, Ellis Mathis, and George Mathis; and grandchildren, Celena Taylor and Benjamin Taylor.

Frances leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of her children, Beverly Taylor, Mitchell (Doreen) Waters, Richard (Elizabeth) Waters, Deborah (Dave) Marszalek, and Martha Waters (Ran Jackson). Her grandchildren, a bright constellation that enriched her days, include Krystal (Adam) Janasiewicz, Rheanne Taylor, Mariah Taylor, Amanda Waters, Richard Waters, Joshua Waters, Nicholas Svir, Jessica Swartz, Jennifer (Aram) Petit, Joshua (Ashley) Davis, Joey (Kacie) Jackson, Justin Waters, and Jordan (Baleigh) Cazee. Furthermore, she was blessed with great-grandchildren, whose laughter and smiles filled her life with warmth, Liam Taylor, Cora Janasiewicz, Robert Janasiewicz, Nathan Waters, Abigail Waters, Eli Waters, Breanna Melton, David Swartz, Lincoln Melton, Cash Svir, Taygen Pennella, Ayden Petit, Grayson Petit, Jaye Davis, Allie Salanci, C.J. Salanci, Korbin Davis, Madison Jackson, Joseph “Trip” Jackson III, Asher Cazee, and Callie Cazee. Frances proudly embraced the title of great-great-grandmother to Elaine Rivera. She also shared a lifelong bond with her sisters, Josephine Ward and Mattie Lou Anderson.

A visitation to honor her will be on Friday, June 27, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Lake Butler, beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. She will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Oak Grove Cemetery.
