Keystone Heights High School’s Jakob Alvarez was voted the Florida Dairy Farmers Association Class 1A Boys Weightlifting Coach of the Year.

Alvarez, who’s in his second year as head coach, led the Indians to the Olympic and traditional state championships this season. Keystone had a score of 25 to win the Olympic event, placing 11 points ahead of runner-up Father Lopez of Daytona Beach. The Indians shared the traditional title with West Nassau, with each team scoring 20 points to place six points ahead of Jay.
Keystone had eight lifters score points and earn medals for top-eight finishes in the Olympic event and five do so in traditional. The Indians had individual champions in Colton Hollingsworth (Olympic), Elijah Mize (traditional) and Kyle Perkins (Olympic).
