Brooker Community School is welcoming a new leader as its principal prepares to retire after a distinguished career in education.
BCS Board Chair Susan McRee announced that Principal Thomas Lashley will retire at the conclusion of the current school year after 36 years in education. Lashley began his career in 1990 as a classroom teacher and advanced through various leadership roles over the years, eventually serving as a school district superintendent before joining BCS. He has served as principal of the charter school for the past two years.
McRee also announced the appointment of Stephanie Nash as the school’s new principal, effective June 8.
A lifelong resident of the Brooker area, Nash brings more than 18 years of experience in education, including time as a teacher at BCS, along with deep roots in the community she will serve. Having grown up in the area, she has established connections with the families, businesses and organizations that make up the small rural community.
Nash has been recognized for her commitment to student success, educational excellence and community engagement. McRee said Nash not only understands BCS’s unique mission as a public charter school but also shares a personal connection to the community it serves.
Brooker Community School is Bradford County’s only charter school.
