KEYSTONE HEIGHTS— City Council Member Tony Brown filed for reelection with the Clay County Supervisor of Elections office last week.

Brown’s Seat 1 is slated to be on the April 12 ballot. So far, no one else has filed to run against him. Candidates have until Feb. 4 to qualify.

The longtime council member and former mayor took a year off from politics four years ago to focus on his business.

After a recent city council meeting, Brown pointed to improvements to Keystone Beach Park and the city’s ongoing street scape project for South Lawrence Boulevard as major accomplishments during his current term.  He added that more work lies ahead for the two enterprises, and he wants to remain on the council to see them to fruition.

Council member Marion Kelly said she will not be on the April 12 ballot.  The retired Clay Electric human resource manager said nine years was enough for her on the council and she wants to make room for someone new.

At press time Chris Thompson was the only candidate filed to run for Kelly’s Seat 2.
