Patricia Pruitt

Patricia Pruitt

Patricia Gayle Pruitt, lovingly known as Patty, went to be with her Savior on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025, at St. Vincent’s in Middleburg. Born March 22, 1948, in Kingsley Lake, she was radiant with life, characterized by her bubbly disposition, infectious laughter, and a heart that embraced everyone around her. She possessed a rare quality; she never met a stranger, extending warmth and friendliness wherever her path took her. A proud graduate of Ocala High School, she journeyed through a vibrant career that saw her nurturing her organizational talents in many secretarial positions over the years. She devoted her expertise to the Union County Courthouse, Lake Butler Apparel, Badcock in Starke, state of Florida at PRIDE, Countryside Animal Hospital in Alachua, ultimately concluding her professional chapter by managing the Dance Barn in Alachua before retiring in 2005. Her deepest affections lay rooted in her faith, her family, and the glorious memories woven throughout her life. Kingsley Lake was more than merely a backdrop to her childhood; it was her sanctuary, a comforting refuge where she cherished countless hours swimming and diving, embracing the joy of life in its purest form. Her love of the lake inspired a book to be written called Patty Gayle and the Legend of Kingsley. Beyond the water’s embrace, her passions flowed through music, where she would often grace the piano, share her melodious voice in song, or sway in dance. Her heart danced to the tunes of Elvis and twinkled with her affection for collecting treasures adorned with lions and tigers. Her community was an extension of her family, being a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Lake Butler prior to becoming an active member of River of Life Church in Starke, where she treasured her relationships with other believers. She now reunites with her parents, James Moser and Callie Strickland; and her dear sister, Vera.

She leaves behind many who cherished her dearly. Mike Pruitt of Starke, her devoted husband of 50 years, stood as her partner through all of life’s blessings. Her children, John Michael (Jennifer) Pruitt of High Springs, Rick (Michelle) McLaughlin of Lake Butler, and Cindee Pruitt of Lake City; her grandchildren: Brittany, Jonathan, Joey, Heather, Ricky, Scotty, Callie, and Charlee; along with six great-grandchildren who were all a sparkle in her eye. She also leaves behind her brother, Bob (Sharon) Haag of Warner Robbins, Georgia.

Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of her life on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at the Lake Butler Community Center from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

In honoring the life of Patricia Gayle Pruitt, we reflect on a woman who filled her world with warmth, laughter, and an unwavering faith. Archer-Milton Funeral Home is honored to serve the Pruitt family during this time. 386-496-2008  www.archerfuneralhome.com
